TORRINGTON – The Riverton Wolverines’ offense pumped out 402 total yards, nearly double that of the Torrington Trailblazers, in a 42-3 win on a chilly Friday night at Wiseman Field.
On the opening drive, the Wolverines took less than three minutes to march down the field, converting two straight third-down conversions on their way to the end zone, taking an early 7-0 lead.
The Blazers’ opening drive resulted in a quick four and out.
Riverton picked up a first down on fourth and goal on the Blazers 3-yard line. The next play, the Wolverines punched it in the end zone with 5:21 left in the first quarter.
The Blazers ensuing drive started on the 30-yard line. The Blazers ate up five minutes before the drive stalled, and Manny Martinez knocked a 28-yard field goal through the uprights to end the first quarter.
After the Blazers forced a punt, and had a three and out of their own. Blake Wisroth’s fake punt came up inches short.
