Records fall at Torrington swim meet

TORRINGTON – One hundred and ninety swimmers competed in the Torrington Swim Meet on Saturday.

Nebraska swimmers from Alliance, Sidney, Rushville and Bridgeport, and 45 from the Torrington swim team converged on the Dale Jones Municipal Pool.

Torrington won 38 percent of the blue ribbons awarded.

“The outstanding performances by our swimmers can be attributed to the efforts of our parents and the support of our community,” coach Ronda Meyer said. “Thank you!”

Four records fell at the hands of two Torrington swimmers: Catie Berry broke the 100 free record in 1 minute, 1.51 seconds and the 100-yard individual medley record in 1:16.81. Molly Creagar also broke two records: the 200-yard IM in 2:51.18 and the 400-yard free with a time of 5:15.40.

Next up for the team is a meet in Bridgeport on June 30.
