TORRINGTON – Memorial services for Tommie J. “Tom” Lovell, 60, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Lighthouse Ministries with Pastor Rick Carroll officiating. Burial of the ashes will take place at 3 p.m. in the Douglas City Cemetery.
Tom died June 10, 2014 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb., and cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to either the Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society. Colyer Funeral Home assisted the family with the cremation arrangements.
Tom was born Feb. 5, 1954 in Douglas, the son of James and Dorothy (Blankenship) Lovell. His family lived in various places while he was growing up. He graduated from the Mullen High School in Mullen, Neb. in 1972. In 1974, he married Virginia Cash, and they were later divorced.
In June of 1972, he started working for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad and retired from there in February of 2014. He married Terri DeMott on June 30, 1990 in Torrington.
Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping and motorcycles to name a few of his interests. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his wife, Terri of Torrington; sons Marty Lovell and his wife Deb Home of Norfolk, Neb., Kyle Lovell and his wife Kara of Cheyenne, and Dustin Lovell of Torrington; daughters Sona Meredith and her husband Mark Ditsworth of Loda, Ill., Brandie Rempe and her husband Eric of Glenvil, Neb., and Stephanie “Stevi” Burk of Gillette; daughter-in-law Heather Maldanado Lovell of Torrington; brothers Gary Lovell of Lincoln, Neb. and Gene Lovell of Torrington; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
