TORRINGTON – Memorial services for Mary Mildred Bunning, 96, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses with Scott Zagrabelny officiating.
Mary died Jan. 21, 2014 at the Goshen Care Center Alzheimer’s Unit, and cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Mary was born July 25, 1917 in Stewart, Neb., the daughter of Ralph and Susie (Humphreys) Pickinpaugh. She lived with her family on a homestead in the Shawnee/Orin Junction area in Wyoming.
She lived there until she married Leroy Bunning on Nov. 4, 1936 in Douglas. Mary was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1940. They lived in Douglas until moving to Torrington in 1974. She cleaned houses and did ironings for various people. She also worked at the grade school as a crossing guard and teacher’s aide, and at Randolph’s Steak House.
Mary enjoyed doing word find puzzles and reading. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Mary is survived by three daughters, Velma Haworth Sacramento, Calif., Dixie Stingley of Boise, Idaho, and Donna Miller of Torrington; a son, David Bunning of Torrington; a brother, John Pickinpaugh of Orin Junction; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Susie Mae Pickinpaugh; her husband Leroy in 1978; three sisters, Helen Scott, Goldie Wright and Susie Mae Turner; and three sons, Donald Pickinpaugh, Lynn Bunning and Charles Bunning.
