LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Graveside services for Coach Bo will be held at Valley View Cemetery in Torrington on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Bo passed away on April 26 at the Collier Hospice in Wheat Ridge, Colo. Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life remembering him was held in Lakewood, Colo.
Although a lifelong resident of Colorado, Bo loved the Torrington community and visiting his in-laws, Doc and Beth Morgan. He enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing with his Wyoming friends, but his true passion was coaching baseball to youth of all ages. Over the years, he conducted several free clinics for both players and coaches at the Torrington Sports Complex.
Bo was born and raised in Denver, Colo. He graduated from Bishop Machebeuf High School and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Western State Colorado University. At the time of his death, Bo was in the real estate investment business and owned a maintenance and janitorial company. He was still coaching baseball, as he had done at all levels, for 45 years.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth “Bootie” of Lakewood; daughter Krista of Arvada, Colo.; son Chad of Lakewood; stepson James Van Lanen of Anchorage, Alaska; stepson Ryan Van Lanen of Sapinero, Colo.; mother-in-law Beth Morgan of Lakewood; brother-in-law Dan Morgan of Missoula, Mont.; and adopted brother and business partner John Horvat of Denver.
Memorial gifts may be made to “Coach Bo’s Youth Baseball Scholarship Program” at Solera National Bank, 319 S. Sheridan Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80226. The family also suggests giving the gift of life by donating blood to a local blood bank.
