TORRINGTON – A Funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated for Jesse James Martinez, 37, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Father Ray Moss officiating.
Jesse died March 10, 2013 at his home in Fort Collins, Colo. Cremation will take place following the service. A memorial has been established to the family. A Rosary/Wake was recited at 11 a.m. prior to the mass.
Visitation was Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the casket was open during the rosary. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home, and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com.
Jesse was born March 16, 1975 in Torrington, the son of Jesse and Kathy (Martinez) Martinez Sr. He grew up and received his early education in Torrington. After school, he worked as a laborer in masonry construction in Wyoming, Colorado and Kansas.
Jesse enjoyed fishing, hiking in the mountains, doing handy work on cars and his home and socializing with family and friends. He was a hard-working man that everybody liked and was a wonderful story teller.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Jackie Aleman of Fort Collins; a daughter, Ashlynn Rose Martinez of Casper; two sisters, Jennifer Reyes and Elaine DonJuan, both of Torrington; his parents, Jesse and Kathy Martinez of Torrington; and his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Phyllis Martinez, also of Torrington. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
