FORT LARAMIE – Graveside services for Donald Lyle Foote, 79, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at the Fort Laramie Cemetery with Rev. Steven Seng officiating. Donald died Jan. 28, 2013 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fort Laramie Fire and Rescue Units. The casket will be closed. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home, and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com.
Donald was born Dec. 19, 1933 in Fort Laramie, the son of Robert and Sophia (Bay) Foote. He grew up and received his early education in Fort Laramie, graduating high school there. He attended Eastern Wyoming College, where he received an associate of arts degree and then attended the University of Wyoming, where he received a bachelors degree in mathematics.
He married Velma Oliver on Sept. 26, 1955 in Hot Springs, S.D. He taught math in the Wheatland high school for six years. Donald then went to work for Peter Kewitt at Guernsey Stone as a foreman. He was transferred to California where he ran cinder mines from 1981 until 1989.
In 1989, he worked for Pacific Natural Aggregate processing pumice. He retired in 1996 and moved back to Fort Laramie.
Donald enjoyed fabricating and fixing machinery, elk hunting and was an avid pool player. He was a long-time member of the Moose Club.
Donald is survived by his wife, Velma of Fort Laramie; two daughters, Lorrie Goodrich and her husband Ralph of Worley, Idaho, and Glenda Bugher and her husband Ron of Inyokern, Calif.; four grandchildren, Kelly Ann Goodrich of Spokane, Wash., Tim W. Goodrich of Coa, Idaho, Gina Bugher and Alex Bugher both of Inyokern; and a great grandson, William Ward Goodrich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers Glen, Robert Jr. and Howard.
