SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Phillip Brooks passed away Dec. 11, 2012 at his home in Scottsdale, Ariz., with his loving family at his side.
Phillip was born in Torrington to Cecil and Viola (Thomas) Brooks, the 11th in a family of 12 children.
He graduated from the Colorado Military Academy in Denver, and then he left the family farm to honorably serve in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS DeKalb County
(LST 715). Phillip retired as a vice president of Universal Propulsion.
Born with a quick wit and bright mind, he shared a spontaneous sense of humor with all who knew him and passed that attribute on to the next generations of his family. Phillip was a sports fan and avid rock hound who enjoyed the thrill of exploration with his sons.
Phillip was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is predeceased by his parents and seven siblings, Etta, Harold, Helen, Lowell, Alma, Chester and Kenny.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Darlene (Deines) Brooks; sons Patrick (Rita) and Michael; grandchildren Greg, Chelsea, Joey and Jessica; and siblings Lena, Warren, Ruth and Eleanor.
A family memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary, Scottsdale, Ariz.
