TORRINGTON – Funeral services for Arthur Leroy Werner, 88, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery.
Art died Nov. 6, 2012 at the Goshen Care Center. The casket will be open briefly following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com.
Art was born Aug. 1, 1924 in Cheyenne, the son of William and Mary (Kirkbride) Werner. He grew up and received his education in Goshen County. He worked on ranches in Platte and Goshen counties. He married Thelma McCarty on June 13, 1944 in Cheyenne. In 1952, he took over operating the family ranch southwest of Yoder. He retired in 1996, and they moved to Torrington in 1997. He entered the Goshen Care Center in October of 2011.
Art is survived by his wife Thelma of Torrington; four daughters, Janet Evans and her fiancé Jerry Schwartzkopf of Torrington, Helen Bremer and her husband Ray of Wheatland, Phyllis Gamblin and her husband Roy of Wheatland and Barbara Caves of Tulsa, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Ron and Bud; one brother, Earl; and one great grandchild.
