TORRINGTON – Pearl Cecil Merrick, 92, died at the Goshen Care Center in Torrington on July 13.
Cecil was born on Nov. 3, 1919, in Boone, Colo., the daughter of Gust and Loree (Hanks) Johnson. She enjoyed family farm life during childhood in Pueblo County, Colo., and after high school graduation entered the clerical work field in Pueblo, Colo.
She married Jerald Merrick in March of 1945. He died on April 29, 1993. She helped her husband in the family business at Boone and Olney Springs, Colo., and also worked 15 years at the Pueblo Army Depot in Colorado. She and Jerald enjoyed 48 years of marriage. She moved to Lingle in 1994 to be near her son, James.
Cecil was a member of the Lingle Community Presbyterian Church and a Life Member of Ordway, Colo., VFW 336 Auxiliary.
Cecil is survived by two sons Jerald Merrick, of Decatur, Ill., and James (Penny) Merrick, of Lingle; grandsons, Jerry Merrick and Jason Merrick; and three great-grandchildren, Jerald Merrick (J.J.), Brandon Stone and Catilyn Merrick.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Noma Fitzpatrick and Ruth Flock.
