HENRY, Neb. – A ruptured natural gas line just north of Henry caused a large blast last Thursday evening, sending dust and dirt high into the air and forcing emergency managers to close down a section of U.S. Highway 26 and evacuate a 1-mile radius from the impacted area.

Personnel from the Torrington Volunteer Fire Department, Goshen County Sheriff’s Department, Scottbluff County Sheriff’s Department, Morrill Fire Department and others responded to the incident at around 8 p.m. Thursday after a Tallgrass Energy-operated, 12-inch pipeline failed approximately 300 yards north of the fireworks stand just on the Wyoming side of the state line.
