TORRINGTON – The Goshen County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft of about 1,300 tons of sugar beet pellets, valued at about $250,000.
Capt. Bryan Morehouse said the thefts involved three suspects allegedly collaborating together to remove the pellets during a three-month period before they were reportedly discovered.
The case is under review by the Goshen County Attorney's Office, and the names of the suspects are currently being withheld pending the outcome of the investigation.
Kent Wimmer, shareholder relations representative at Western Sugar Cooperative, said the company was not in a position to comment at this time.
