Platte County Memorial Nursing Home is located in Wheatland, Wyoming, 75 miles north of Cheyenne. Wheatland (population 3,500) is a progressive small town, boasting participation in the largest consumer-owned power program in the country. Residents enjoy abundant recreational opportunities, such as wildlife watching, hiking, camping, and proximity to the Laramie Peak area of Medicine Bow National Forest.
PCMNH is a 43-bed licensed facility and is the only nursing home in Platte County. In November 2009, the Hospital District Board contracted with Rural Health Development to manage the facility. Since then, the nursing home has installed new flooring, created a resident lounge and private dining room, implemented the Arial Call-Light paging system and purchased a new bath unit. The nursing home employs approximately 50 full and part time employees.
