Rosendo ‘Ross’ Barajas March 1, 1930 - February 8, 2007

A funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated for Rosendo “Ross” Barajas, 76, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Saint Rose Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Kevin officiating. Burial with military honors followed in the Valley View Cemetery. Ross died Feb. 8, 2007, at United Medical Center in Cheyenne. A Rosary/Wake service was held on Monday at 6 p.m. at the church. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-5 p.m., on Monday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and the casket was open at the Rosary/Wake. Ross was born March 1, 1930, in Lingle, the son of Raymond and Juana (Santiago) Barajas. He grew up and received his early education in Torrington. He joined the Wyoming Army National Guard when he was 18. He married Olivia Hernandez on Nov. 24, 1951, in Mitchell, Neb. Ross worked for 42 years as a painter at Camp Guernsey where he was also a sharpshooter with the 960th Unit Pistol team and traveled to may competitions.

Ross loved drawing and painting, gardening, yard work, running and especially helping others. He was a member of the South Torrington Water Board.

Ross is survived by one son, Dave Barajas and his wife Tamie; seven daughters, Katherine Kath and her husband Greg of Torrington, Laura Patterson of Oklahoma City, Okla., Rose Stevens of Toledo, Ohio, Cecilia Elizondo and her husband Ricardo of Cheyenne, Elizabeth Moore of Torrington, Rebecca Ramirez and her husband Robert of Torrington, and Rachel Sandusky and her husband Scott of Torrington; four brothers, Hyino Barajas and his wife Lucy of Commerce City, Colo., Joe Barajas and his wife Susie of Yakima, Wash., Raymond Barajas and his wife Isabel of Westminster, Colo., and Johnny Barajas of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Ramona Lira of Lingle, and Virginia Munoz and her husband Fernando of Torrington; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one son-in-law, Ron Stevens.
