Lingle woman a finalist in card contest
Posted: Friday, Jul 31st, 2009

A Lingle woman’s photography will be sold in over 10,000 Hallmark stores nationwide on the front of a birthday card.

Heather Wilhelm was one of 59 finalists in Hallmark’s “yourBloopers” card competition. Her card features a photo of her son-in-law, Matt Allred, of Fort Laramie.

Wilhelm, a transplant from southern California, fell in love with the wide-open spaces of Wyoming four years ago when she moved to the area, according to Sarah Kolell of Hallmark Cards..

Kolell said people from around the country began submitting their card creations in January. The competition judges looked for cards that had photos and writing that worked well together, could be sent to many different people and were “laugh-out-loud-in-the-card-aisle” funny, Kolell said. Each eligible photo had to be funny, intriguing and in a vertical format.

“This is our sixth greeting card contest, and our Hallmark shoppers keep on sending us amazing cards,” Sarah Mueller, editorial director at Hallmark, said. “We wanted hilarious cards this time, and they brought it. We’ve got some seriously sore funny bones here on the judging team.”

Hallmark creative staff, including members of the Shoebox team, judged the cards.
