On Thursday morning, Aug. 7, Bridget Mullins and her four children were caught in a trailer house fire in Riverton. Bridget continues to fight for her life.
Bridget received third-degree burns over 30 percent of her body. The children are in good condition and staying with Bridget’s husband but she remains in critical condition at the University of Colorado Burn Unit in Denver, Colo. According to her mother, Donna Dinges, Bridget is heavily sedated with a tube into her lungs. Dead skin was removed from her arms and the back of her hands on Tuesday. Today she is having dead skin removed from her back and the top of her arms. Her breathing tube has been causing a lot of problems but it is necessary to keep her lungs open.
“I want to thank everyone who has helped or will help,” Dinges said. “The caring is wonderful.”
Friends of Bridget have set up a fund for her at Bank of the West in Torrington. Persons interested in making donations can call 532-7181. David Joy from Lander (307-709-0224) is planning an auction and dinner to raise funds for Bridget. Cards and letters can be sent to Bridget Mullins, BICU Rm. 321, c/o University of Colorado Hospital, Mail Stop F771, P.O. Box 6510, Aurora, CO. 80045.
